as a little spark
ready to flare

patience ..
a stream of
heavenly waters
to keep this
inferno in check....

Such a timely advise:))Often when i am disturbed by the events and happenings of daily life all i think of is to check my list of expectations...which keeps rising just like you said, " a little spark ready to flare in a wildfire"
And yes, a little angel like you comes and whispers these beautiful reminders to bless me with so much peace and joy;))

Expectations are human made, but God has other plans for us. We think our expectations are not met, and feel let down, but do not realize that God has better plans :) The Sufis say to expect nothing, and trust in God. That is the heart of the path :)

Dear Sister Krishna ... you are so right .. it is so important to keep our expectations in check ..they grow out of control before you even realize it ..
Read this hadith in An-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths ...A man came to the prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, direct me to an act which, if I do it, [will cause] Allah to love me and people to love me." He said: "Renounce the world and Allah will love you, and renounce what people possess and people will love you."

The waves of the expectations may drowned our beautiful heart…they are the waves of the Self …they may give some time a little pleasure but eternal grief… and they may give some troubles and difficulties of this life for the sake of eternal pleasure…it is our choice which are the best of all those expectations…and change them into needs and struggle for them to fulfill….

Wherever the sparks naturally there is a fire…. and wherever who see a fire there is its light spreading all around. So whoever claims that he loves very much his lord he must have its sign….. the proper knowledge and related desires of his be-loved Lord...
